DATA Transfer to and from CADverter.com

The preferred method is to use Anonymous FTP via the Internet to the cadverter.com FTP site at ftp://ftp.cadverter.com

Files being collected from cadverter.com should be retrieved from the directory named "outgoing" using the FTP command "get" and a filename agreed by Theorem Solutions.

Alternative Methods

E-mail can be used if FTP (the preferred method) is not available. The e-mail address that should be used is bureau@theorem.co.uk Data sent using this method will only be accepted as an attached file and the size of the e-mail is limited to a maximum of 4MB. Please be aware that some ISP's impose an e-mail size limitation smaller than 4MB.

Physical Media

Data sent to cadverter.com on physical media will be subject to an additional handling charge. It should be addressed to Cadverter.com, Theorem Solutions Ltd, Tame House, Wellington Crescent, Fradley Park, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 8RZ, England.

4mm DAT Tape (DDS1 or DDS2) written using either the Unix "tar" command or Windows NT4 "ntbackup" command. Tapes written using "tar" should use the default block size and the data should be written using relative pathnames, i.e. "./file1" not "/data_dir/file1". All tapes should be labelled with your company name, the command used to write the tape, the computer type it was written from i.e. Sun and the date it was written.

CD-ROM that can be mounted on either Unix or Windows NT4 workstations.

DOS formatted Diskettes.

Data Compression

Data should be compressed if the method of transfer is via the Internet or physical media with limited capacity, for example FTP or Diskette.

Data Compression Utilities used by cadverter.com

Unix.

* gzip/gunzip. This is cadverter.com's preferred compression utility, and it can be downloaded from the following Web Site http://www.gnu.org/software/software.htm Multiple files can be compressed onto 1 file using gzip.

* Compress/uncompress (standard Unix command)

* Pack/unpack (standard Unix command)

If there are multiple compressed files for transfer they could be placed within a single tar file for ease of transfer.

Windows.

* Winzip. This is cadverter.com's preferred compression utility, and it can be downloaded from the following Web Site http://www6.winzip.com/ddchome.htm Multiple files can be compressed onto 1 file using Winzip.
